The historical place Tansen is situated on the warm lap of the hill Shrinagar . During winter the hill protects the town from the chilling northern breeze and exposes it to warm sun , while in summer the gentle cool breeze blowing from the green pine forest protects it from excessive heat .Thus Shrinagar guards the town like a loving parent and makes the climate of the place very pleasant and charming throughout the year .
About a century ago the hill of shrinagar was covered with dense forest and there were water sources at the top .As the forest disappeared ,the water sources also vanished .There are ruins of houses at the top and around .Commander in chief Rudra Shamsher ,the last district administrator in Rana regime ,had built a summer palace at the top where a helipad has been constructed .
The pine and eucalyptus forest which we see now has grown between past two decades .Just a few meters west of the helipad there is a reservoir .Water is lifted here by pump and supplied to the two tourists cottages , picnic spots and restaurants .
The northern slope from the helipad was used as military training ground .Artificial warfare and shooting used to be practiced here .Lane for canon and trenches and mounds still witness the story of military activities in this space .The quite and peaceful environment had attracted many saints and ascetics in the past .We can see the ruins of their cottages here.
Shrinagar is an ideal place for the lovers of nature ,specially for those who do not want to trouble much but want to have a wide range view of birds ,and vegetation and study the nature closely .The armchair tourists can see a great varieties of birds .Nepal is very rich in the species of birds.More than 800 species are found here .they include some rare species as well .They vary in shape and size too .At Shrinagar some of the European bird watcher have encountered with such birds which are not found in western hemisphere .
Many kinds of migratory birds pass through herein spring and winter seasons .In the winter the birds from north arrive here in the summer the birds from the planes of the Tarai and India come here to escape from the heat .The most suitable time for bird watching is early morning .bird watchers can see them preparing themselves to leave their shelter for searching food . Humming bird is the smallest found here.You can also see a large variety of butterflies in the forest of Shrinagar .Some of them are very peculiar .They resemble the shape and color of leaves and branches to keep their enemies in illusion .
The forest is abundant with tropical fruits such as Kaphal (bay berry ) ,Aiselu (yellow wine berry ) ,Miyal which looks like a small pear and some kinds of berries etc .
The northern side of the hill has dense forest of rhododendron .It is the national flower of Nepal .In spring the area comes alive with its blossom .You can see other seasonable flowers as well .
Among the animals which are common in this area are jackals and hares .Shrinagar is rich with various kinds of herbs ,shrubs ,ferns,orchids and trees .That is why it is a good sanctuary of birds ,and a good open laboratory for the students of biology .
Shrinagar is an idol place for mediators .The peace - loving people can get rid of their worries and pass their valuable time peacefully .There are many picnic spots too .In winter season people from far districts come here as a group for picnic and many ceremonies .Every year there is a big occasion in the day of Nepali New year . After the decision was taken for the development of Shrinagar as a tourists resort by His Majesty 's government of Nepal ,various construction works are being done here .the department of Tourism has constructed two cottages , a statue of Hindu god Hanuman has been constructed , Gol ghar at the east side of this place ,and main The 100 ft. tall view tower has been constructed and in finishing process .The park consists of an artistic pillar which resembles the shape of a traditional lamp has constructed .And also for children there is a children park where kids can spend their time .
View Tower Of Palpa
The shrinagar hill which lies at the top of the Tansen offers several types of charming natural objects for the visitors . There is a view tower about 100 ft. tall shaped like Karuwa .That recently constructed but not fully finished .From there anyone can see very rare scene of palpa to other districts scene too .One of them is the breathtaking close looking sight of gigantic snowy mountain – Dhaulagiri and Annapurna .These are the sixth nd tenth highest peaks in the world .The view includes the famous fish tail peak called Machhapuchhre .The two twin peaks are distinctly visible which give the aperance of a fish’s forked tail .This is a rare sight which is not visible from the town area of pokhara.

From view tower one can see perhaps Nepal’s most far –streching
view of the Himalayas .In clear spring and autumn morning innumerable Himalayan
peaks ranging from Kanjiroba in the far west to Langtang in central Nepal
including the entire Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges and other snow giants are
visible .
Only by turning one’s head towards south from this
hill top anyone can see the sweeping Tinahu
River valley below and to the far south the plain of the Tarai is visible quite
clearly .The wide paddy field of the Madi Valley , which is called the rice
bowl of Tansen presents changing views .In the morning the valley is covered
with dense fog .It looks like a great heap of cotton .When the sun rays fall on
this heap of cotton , it begins to rise gradually up .With in a few hours the
fog disappears and a clear picture of the field and the lovely view of serpentine
course of Tinahu river is seen .With the help of a powerful binoculars anyone
can see the farmers working in the field. In the afternoon the clear picture
turns hazy and before dusk it becomes clear once again .
