Bronzecraft
One of the most famous product all over the Nepal and other nations too . It is a type of water jug called karuwa . It is made of bronze and available in different sizes . In Tansen , Taksar tole ( middle of Tansen Bazaar) is the main area where the art of bronze casting is still flourishing . The skilled craftsmen of Taksar produce not only karuwa but different types of pot made by soil . People visiting Palpa are always eager to buy a Karuwa as a sovenir .
To make the bronze utensils and idols the artisans first create an image in wax using their hands and simple tools . The wax image is then coated with thick muf and dried in the sun for some weeks . When the clay mould is dried it is heated and the wax melts and molten metal is poured into the cavity . When the metal becomes cold and hard and painstaking work before the idol or utensil is finished . Nepal may be the only country in which this method of producing bronzecraft still survives in a large scale . This skill has been passing through generations to generations .
You can see th artisans and their families working in their workshops and making the bronze artifacts with this age old method .
